FC United, a club formed by the disgruntled supporters of Manchester United when American businessman Malcom Glazer took over, represents the true community spirit and marks a protest against the commercialization of football. Manchester United used to be a club of the common man. But the big money TV broadcasting with the introduction of the Premier League and the Champions League in the early nineties meant that the gap between the fans and their club and the players would widen over the next decade or so.
